Susanna E. Whitmore, Principal & SVP Business Development

Susanna Whitmore brings a deep well of experience to her role as Senior Vice President of Business Development. As a descendant of the Lopez Family, one of the founding Hispanic families of the city of Los Angeles, Latino culture has been a prevailing theme in her personal and professional pursuits.

Prior to joining New American Dimensions, Susanna was Vice President of New Business Development at Cultural Access Group, where she helped to advance Hispanic marketing research projects through focused, attentive, and responsive client relations-developing long term relationships with key clients such as Mervyn’s, Target, Fannie Mae, and numerous Hispanic advertising agencies. In addition to client development, she juggled project management and video/filmmaking.

Previously, Susanna was Director of Display Advertising and National/Regional/Entertainment Sales Manager for La Opinión, L.A.’s Spanish-language daily newspaper. She spent 14 years at La Opinión during the newspapers critical growth periods, as it became the largest Spanish-language print publications in the U.S. during the 1980's and 1990's. At La Opinión, Susanna designed grass-roots tour programs for corporate advertisers, designed to help clients taste, feel, and experience Latino neighborhoods from a personal and first-hand perspective. As a result, numerous corporate accounts were added to their advertising portfolio.

Moreover, she also worked as VP of Sales at the Wave Community Newspapers, a group of weekly publications targeting Southern California’s African American and Hispanic South Central and Eastside communities. At the Wave, she restructured the entire sales operation to ensure the future stability and viability of the company.

Ms. Whitmore has a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies combining Spanish Literature, History, and Anthropology from UC Santa Barbara. She is currently working on a Masters Degree in Cultural Anthropology at California State University, Los Angeles. She has lived extensively in both Mexico and Spain and is a fluent Spanish speaker. She has two sons and lives in Los Angeles.
