Tseng, Principal and Co-Founder
Thomas
Tseng is Principal and Co-Founder of New
American Dimensions, a market research and consulting
agency based in Los Angeles. A seasoned research professional,
Mr. Tseng possesses broad marketing, consulting, and research
experience that spans across the private, non-profit, academic,
and government sectors.
Along
with his partners, Mr. Tseng created New American Dimensions
in 2003-armed with a vision to elevate corporate America's ideas
about ethnic consumers and its strategies for reaching emerging
market opportunities. In several short years, New American Dimensions
has fast emerged to become one of the nation's leading multicultural
consulting and research agencies-serving clients as diverse as
PepsiCo, Kraft, State Farm, General Motors, MTV, Disney, Novartis,
and other Fortune 500 companies.
Prior
to launching New American Dimensions, Mr. Tseng was Director
of Marketing for Cultural Access Group where he first gained distinction
in the ethnic marketing arena. Notably, he spearheaded influential
research projects illuminating the growth opportunities of U.S.
ethnic consumers-including the Coca-Cola Retailing Research Council's
"Grow With America: Best Practices in Ethnic Marketing and
Merchadising" and the Food Marketing Institute's "Hispanic
Grocery Shopper" series. He also previously served as Director
of Research for the Community Development Technologies Center
(CDTech) and Rebuild LA-directing research studies analyzing the
growing urban markets-in particular, the role minority-owned small
businesses contribute to local economic development.
Concurrently,
he is a Research Fellow at the Davenport Institute for Public
Policy at Pepperdine University, where he has authored several
widely commended public policy studies, including: "Rewarding
Ambition: Latinos, Housing, and the Future of California"
(2002) and "Growing
Urban Villages: Cultivating A New Paradigm For Growth and Development
in California" (2006).
Mr.
Tseng is an occasional instructor, teaching economics and research
at Los Angeles Trade Technical College and is frequently cited
as an authority on ethnic marketing and demographic trends in
the media. He has also written about the impacts of America's
changing ethno-demographic landscape for the Washington Post and
other publications.
In
his civic life, Mr. Tseng is a founding board member of Zócalo,
billed as "a cultural forum for the new L.A." In addition,
he serves on the National Advisory Board for the First American
Corporation and is a 2006-2007 Senior Fellow at UCLA's School
of Public Affairs. He has previously served on the boards of Los
Angeles Local Development Corporation and El Rescate, an immigrant
services organization. A native Angeleno, Mr. Tseng studied Economics
and Social Ecology at the University of California, Irvine and
received his Master of Arts degree at UCLA's School of Public
Policy and Social Research.
